Columbus Dance Theatre (CDT) offers a highly theatrical fusion of ballet and contemporary movement. CDT features work by Founder and Artistic Director Tim Veach and a variety of contemporary choreographers in its dynamic and exciting programs. With a special attention to theatricality, the repertoire boasts evening-length works such as the Emmy-nominated String Machine and the cabaret favorite Ten Cents a Dance that appeals to both children’s programming and sophisticated dance audiences. Musicality is central to the work, and as the resident company of the Opera Columbus, all performances are available with live music accompanying the ten-member ensemble.

Ten Cents a Dance
Annual event performed each Valentine’s Day with live cabaret singer, Kathryn Payne, and set in a cabaret.
String Machine
A work of seven dancers nominated for a choreographic Emmy Award.
Match Girl
Based on the Hans Christian Anderson story, this holiday tale is performed annually and can incorporate children from the towns and schools in which it is performed.
Ragtime
This fast, light, and quick show is a program of ragtime pieces.
Hands
The Hands concert is an original, multi-media presentation blending the compelling work of Cuban-American painter Tony Rio with original choreography by CDT. The music, an original score by composer Korine Fujiwara, accompanies the exploration of varied human dynamics throughout the piece.
