DNAWORKS (NYC/Santa Fe)
www.dnaworks.org
Co-founded in 2006 by Adam McKinney
and Daniel Banks, Ph.D., DNAWORKS is an multi-disciplinary arts and
service organization dedicated to furthering artistic expression and
dialogue, focusing on issues of identity, culture, class, and heritage.
McKinney and Banks catalyze performance and action through the arts in
the intersecting communities in which they live and work.
McKinney is a former dancer with
such esteemed companies as
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Bjart Lausanne, Lines Ballet, and
Milwaukee Ballet and is the Chair of the Dance Department at the New
Mexico School for the Arts, Santa Fe. Banks taught at the Tisch School
of the Arts, New York University, for 15 years and has directed dance
and theatre productions at notable theatres around the world. McKinney
and Banks formed DNAWORKS to bring to performance work and training a
professional aesthetic that brings an attention to the needs of the
planet and its people. Their philosophy is that art = ritual = healing
= community. They believe that this philosophy and practice lead to a
more peaceful world.
“McKinney is a magnetic and
elegant dancer...“
