www.arielrivkadance.com
Founded by Artistic Director
and Choreographer Ariel Grossman, Ariel Rivka Dance is a Contemporary
Ballet/Modern Dance company committed to creating work that explores
raw emotion in the context of strong technique and form. ARD aims to
create a comfortable and inviting environment for the audience so they
can develop a passion for dance. To do this, ARD offers free community
performances and early childhood programming. Collaborating with
living composers, the overarching goal of Ariel Rivka Dance is to use
movement to expose, intrigue, and inspire the audience and
collaborators. Most recently Ariel Rivka Dance was presented at
the Greenspace Blooms Festival and Saratoga Arts Fest.
“It was clear she was meant
for this profession . . . Ariel Grossman started with dance when she
was eight, and hasn't stopped ever since."
-Tamar Tsvaigrach, Haaretz Daily
News Paper, May 2011
Touring Programs
From solos to group works of
seven dancers, Ariel Grossman’s choreography covers a myriad of
emotional landscapes and subjects, and features the music of living
composers. The work can be presented as an evening-length
performance or as stand-alone pieces as part of a festival.

3-6 repertory works
Tours with 5-6 dancers
Bardanashvili - 4
dancers
A contemporary ballet that explores the struggle of a woman trying to
control the range of her emotions. The sections move from soft
vulnerable gestures to powerful and sharp phrases. Featuring the
composition of Joseph Bardanashvili, the music is harsh, yet playful,
and the choreography reflects these various shifts in tone, dynamics,
and speed.
Bloched - 5-6 dancers
A joyous contemporary ballet set to a beautiful orchestral score
inspired by Ernst Bloch and composed by David Homan.
Une Nuit . . . - 5
dancers
A contemporary ballet featuring the music of French composer Yann
Tiersen. The work ranges from playful to extremely energetic as the
dancers explore images of carousels and dolls coming to life.
One Room - duet
Explores the relationship of two sisters who grew up in one small
room. The sisters come together, move apart, and explore their
own identities. The music is an original composition for solo
piano by David Homan
Eva - 5 dancers
Originally choreographed at Skidmore College. Dedicated to and inspired
by Eva Witek, Ariel’s late Grandmother and a Holocaust survivor, the
work explores five aspects of her personality through five dancers.
Malta, Malta – solo
An emotional solo demonstrating athleticism and grace.
Four Concerned (work in
progress, premier 2012)
Features a new score by composer David Homan and focuses on partnering
among four female dancers. The work explores the many faces of
friendship.
