Philippa Kaye Company

Philippa Kaye Company creates original dances to makes connections within our wonderfully absurd transitory existence.  Led by choreographer Philippa Kaye, the Brooklyn-based company of dancers, composers, and visual artists has brought people together in theaters, galleries, schools, gardens, and a zoo.  The imaginative worlds of the dances spring from such physical phenomena as chaos theory, fractals, sound waves, and animal behavior, as well as the emotional state of our bodies in relation to technology.  Philippa looks for the movement invention and humor that emerges from pollinating recognizable dance forms with empirical inquiry.  The physical puzzles that develop present human failure as well as virtuosity.

“Philippa Kaye is a choreographer and dancer who creates wildly innovative multimedia dance pieces that display a deep fascination with science and technology while simultaneously maintaining a tender and poetic attachment to the human.”
