www.catspayingdues.com

CPD PLUS (Cats Paying Dues) has been critically and popularly acclaimed since the sold out debut of All For Love (Mainstage Theatre at Playwrights Horizons, NYC). The company’s evening-length presentations, under the direction of Andrew J. Nemr have been called, “a welcome return to the elegance of simplicity and the tap dancer as maker of aural magic,” (exploredance.com) and “deeply touching” (Daily Gazette). Building on Nemr’s relationship with past tap dance masters (he was mentored by Gregory Hines and Henry LeTang, among others) CPD PLUS’s performances are story-driven, technically strong, and heart-felt, spreading the joy of tap dance to an audience of all ages.

“The dedication, skill and showmanship of Andrew and his company CPD PLUS made both sold-out shows a highlight of our Just Kidding program.”
– Darren Critz, Director of Performing Arts Programs, Symphony Space

Touring Programs
CPD PLUS offers 2 evening length programs.

SoundShapes
Tours with 6 dancers, 2 musicians – 8 performers total

SoundShapes is a “best of” selection from CPD PLUS’s full repertoire of the past five seasons. Pieces from CPD PLUS’s evening length presentations All For Love and Where the Music Lives are set alongside pieces that have been seen only at CPD PLUS’s BRICLab residency and 92nd Street Y performances.

“Tap dancers are creators of both sounds and pictures. The reinterpretation of music through the dancer makes the music more immediate, not something that happens in the background but something that is right in front of you, happening in the moment.”
–Andrew J. Nemr, Artistic Director

Echoes In Time
Tours with 8 dancers, 5 musicians - 13 performers total

Tap dance is an oral history found both in the stories of the lives of the dancers as well as in their steps, their unique style, and their approach to the craft. Echoes In Time takes the audience on “the complete journey through American tap.” (Daily Gazette), presenting signature pieces from tap dance luminaries such as Bill “Bojangles” Robinson and Gregory Hines along side tribute pieces, and original works.
